The kindergarten to third grade class learned about mezuzot after learning to sing the sh’ma. They looked at a real scroll, which has the sh’ma and a few other paragraphs, including v’ahavta. Everyone copied or traced the sh’ma onto their own “scrolls” and decorated the plastic bottles.

Some videos for students to use in preparing to lead the Torah service:
Congregation Beth El recently re-started a weekly Hebrew School. Classes are taught by an experiencee Israeli teacher, who has taught in Jewish day schools for over 20 years. The classes currently being taught are the Advanced Beginner weekly class. This course, appropriate for children age 6 to 10, emphasizes Hebrew language, and touches on other Judaica topics, such as holidays. For additional information, please email bethelaustin@yahoo.com
